Piecing Pages: On working in fragments (ed. Line Arngaard) is a (visual) reader which collects the work of fifteen artists, writers and designers across twelve contributions. Each contribution offers insights into a practice or research project that in some way embodies the notion of working in fragments. Together, these contributions unravel how a traditional women’s craft technique – assembling scraps – continues to influence and inform the fragmented working methods of designers, artists and writers today.
‘Piecing Pages: On working in fragments’ is a pilot project within the Library of Unruly Fashion Practices; an emerging project—a library in flux—that seeks to platform anti-capitalist, queer, feminist, and decolonial approaches to fashion, textiles, clothing, and identity. By challenging capitalist and patriarchal knowledge systems, it interrogates the conventions of fashion education: what we teach, how we teach it, and the broader dynamics of knowledge production and dissemination. The library also explores publishing as an artistic practice, engaging critically with archives through acts of (re)publication and reinterpretation. It treats the archive not as a site of knowledge retrieval, but as one of knowledge production. This publication is #0 within the Library of Unruly Fashion Practices.
